Senior Director Facilities Maintenance

About the role

The Senior Director Facilities Maintenance leads the maintenance strategy for Canberra Health Services' hospital portfolio, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all non‑clinical assets. Reporting to the Branch Manager, Infrastructure and Facilities Services, this senior leader oversees both planned and reactive maintenance across acute and non‑acute facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop internal FM trade staff and external contractors for a large health‑facility portfolio.
• Strategically manage planned and reactive maintenance programs, asset management, utilities, and contracts.
• Ensure compliance with Australian Standards, health‑facility guidelines, legislation, and CHS policies.
• Oversee the facilities budget, financial reporting, and cost‑control measures.
• Represent CHS in senior‑level negotiations and stakeholder engagements.
• Maintain a healthy, safe, and productive workplace environment.

Required profile

• Extensive senior‑level experience in facilities management within a healthcare or large‑scale environment.
• Deep knowledge of relevant Australian Standards, legislation, and health‑facility guidelines.
• Proven leadership, negotiation and stakeholder management abilities.
• Ability to manage large budgets and complex contracts.
• Willingness to undergo pre‑employment police check and occupational health assessments.
