Senior Communications Officer

About the role

The Department of Local Government, Industry Regulation and Safety (LGIRS) is seeking a Senior Communications Officer to lead media and stakeholder communications in Perth. This permanent, hybrid position supports senior executives, ministers and the department’s strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement media strategies aligned with departmental priorities.
• Edit and prepare ministerial speeches, media statements, publications, advertising and website content.
• Coordinate ministerial and parliamentary liaison requests.
• Manage communication flow between the department and media outlets.
• Assist in the production and distribution of promotional material.

Required profile

• Proven experience in strategic communications within a government or regulatory environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with senior stakeholders.
