Senior Civil Designer

About the role

Aurecon is seeking a Senior Civil Designer to lead civil design packages for mining and resources projects across Queensland and Australia. You will work closely with engineers, project managers and global design centres to deliver high‑quality design documentation and model development.

Key responsibilities

• Lead civil design delivery for complex mining, bulk materials handling and industrial infrastructure projects from feasibility through detailed design and construction support.
• Create innovative design solutions for site development, earthworks, roads, drainage, access infrastructure and operational facilities using Civil 3D and digital engineering tools.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (civil, structural, mechanical, process, electrical, geotechnical) to deliver integrated project solutions.
• Drive digital innovation through model‑based delivery, automation and data‑centric design practices.
• Mentor and develop designers and modelers locally and across global design centres.

Required profile

• Relevant engineering, design or drafting qualifications with experience in mining, bulk materials handling, heavy industrial and infrastructure projects.
• Strong background in roads, water management, hardstands and civil infrastructure within complex project environments.
• Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary design teams and manage large‑scale engineering project interfaces.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with a collaborative, solutions‑focused mindset.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Civil 3D (earthworks, grading, drainage, corridors, site development).
• Experience with ACC and Navisworks for integrated design coordination.
• Passion for digital engineering, model‑based delivery and innovative design practices.
