Senior Associate – Insurance Law (Historical Abuse Claims)

About the role

MinterEllison is seeking a Senior Associate to join its nationally recognised insurance practice in Sydney. The role focuses on complex personal injury and historical abuse claims, providing legal advice and litigation support to a diverse client base.

Key responsibilities

• Take ownership of matters from inception to resolution, including client engagement and case strategy.
• Mentor and supervise junior lawyers, fostering a collaborative team environment.
• Deliver high‑quality, pragmatic legal advice that balances commercial and reputational considerations.
• Advise insurers, government bodies, churches, and educational institutions on sensitive claims.
• Collaborate closely with senior team members, including Chern Tan, across multiple jurisdictions.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years post‑admission experience in personal injury claims.
• Demonstrated expertise handling sensitive and historical abuse claims.
• Strong knowledge of civil procedure and litigation processes.
• Ability to work sensitively with vulnerable clients and stakeholders.
