Senior Associate – Competition and Consumer Law

About the role

Join HWLE Lawyers' rapidly growing Corporate & Commercial practice in Brisbane, working closely with Competition partner Simon Ellis. You will handle complex competition and consumer law matters for blue‑chip clients across diverse industries.

Key responsibilities

• Manage competition issues in transactions, including merger filings and ACCC engagement.
• Assess competition risks, advise on mitigation strategies, and draft commercial agreement provisions.
• Assist clients with regulatory notices and advise on Part IV of the Competition and Consumer Act.
• Collaborate with the broader Corporate & Commercial team and the disputes team on relevant matters.
• Develop client relationships, contribute to business development, and mentor junior colleagues.

Required profile

• 5+ years post‑admission experience in a reputable Competition & Consumer practice.
• Strong analytical, drafting and communication abilities.
• Commercially astute, client‑focused mindset with relationship‑building skills.
• Ability to work autonomously while supporting junior team members.

Required skills

• Experience advising on commercial, regulatory or competition‑related matters.
• Knowledge of competition law, merger assessments, and consumer law issues.
