Semicon Machine Design Engineer

About the role

Syenta is looking for a senior Semicon Machine Design Engineer to own the design, build and commissioning of semiconductor capital equipment from concept to stable production. The role covers mechanical, mechatronic and controls integration for high‑precision tools used in cleanroom environments.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end machine design, including structure, motion, metrology, electrical, pneumatic and safety systems.
• Develop machine specifications, conduct FAT and SAT, and produce full documentation packages (drawings, schematics, BoMs, manuals).
• Manage build process, coordinate vendors, integrate systems and oversee commissioning and handover.
• Ensure compliance with SEMI standards and machine safety regulations, performing risk assessments and implementing safeguards.

Required profile

• 8+ years designing and delivering semiconductor capital equipment or comparable high‑precision tools.
• Proven leadership of mechanical or mechatronic design for production‑grade machines with sub‑micron accuracy.
• Experience with cleanroom‑compatible material, finish, lubrication and outgassing decisions (ISO Class 3 or better).
• Direct experience walking machines through FAT, SAT and stable operation.

Required skills

• Precision mechanical design, kinematic mounting, tolerancing; 3D CAD (SolidWorks, Inventor, CATIA, Fusion 360).
• Electrical design and controls integration; EPLAN or AutoCAD Electrical.
• PLC/HMI programming or close collaboration (Beckhoff TwinCAT, Siemens TIA Portal, Allen‑Bradley).
• Vision systems (Cognex, Keyence) and safety calculation tools (SISTEMA).
• PLM/PDM tools (SolidWorks PDM, Vault).
