Scraper Operator - FIFO (Rio Tinto, Weipa)

About the role

Karlayura Personnel is recruiting experienced Scraper Operators to support Rio Tinto's project in Weipa, Far North Queensland. The work involves operating scrapers safely and efficiently on haul road construction and earthworks activities, on a 2:1 FIFO roster with day shifts of 11-12 hours. The start date is ASAP, and the position runs until December 2026, with a possible extension into 2027 depending on performance.

Key responsibilities

• Operate scrapers safely and efficiently across civil earthworks and haul road construction activities.
• Complete daily pre-start inspections and report equipment defects or hazards.
• Follow site safety procedures, operating standards and supervisor instructions.
• Work with other operators and site personnel to meet production targets.
• Maintain a strong focus on equipment care, productivity and safe work practices.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years' experience operating scrapers.
• Demonstrated experience in civil earthworks or mining operations.
• Relevant RII machinery operating ticket.
• Current C Class driver's licence.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment medical, MMQ assessment and drug and alcohol screening.

Required skills

• Scrapers operation (RII ticket)
• GPS machine control experience highly regarded

What we offer

• Pay of $60-$70.07 per hour depending on experience.
