About the role
Bechtel is recruiting a Deputy Site Manager / Senior Site Executive for a greenfield mining, process, material handling and ship loading project in Weipa, Queensland. The project focuses on sustaining production, minimising environmental impacts, strengthening relationships with neighbouring communities and fostering local economic development. The role leads a team and supervises superintendents and craft professionals, directing craft activities, work schedules and subcontractor work.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and supervise discipline and lead superintendents, with 100+ craft, and engage with team development through competency assessment and feedback
- Determine workforce requirements and prepare reports and forecasts on construction progress, craft personnel and expenditures
- Monitor tool and equipment usage and prepare field material requisitions for tools and consumables
- Ensure construction operations and subcontractors comply with specifications and implement corporate and project policies and procedures
- Monitor work activities and quality, and coordinate engineering solutions with subcontractors, foremen and craft professionals
- Coordinate subcontractor planning, safety, quality and technical activities, and instruct subcontractor management staff
Required profile
- Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent)
- 10-13 years of relevant experience, or 14-17 years of relevant work experience
- Experience as a Deputy Site Manager / Senior Site Executive responsible for overall site management while the Site Manager is on R&R
- Demonstrated leadership managing subcontractor construction on large, complex infrastructure or industrial projects
Required skills
- Construction planning, scheduling, resource management, construction methodologies and work packaging
- Strong technical understanding of construction drawings, specifications, constructability and field engineering coordination
- Ability to enforce safety, quality and compliance requirements
- Stakeholder management, communication and problem-solving
