Safety Manager - Automated Distribution Centre

About the role

Six Degrees has partnered with a leading retail and supply chain business to recruit a Safety Manager for its new automated distribution centre in Moorebank, near Sydney. The role is the lead for safety on site, establishing the safety framework and culture for a highly automated operation with around 500 people and planned throughput of up to one million cartons per day. The position was initially approved as a fixed-term contract until June 2028 (20 months from the date of posting), with the potential to transition to a permanent position as the site becomes operational.

Key responsibilities

• Establish safety systems, governance and processes from the ground up
• Manage risks across automated and manual warehouse operations, including AGVs, AMRs and material handling equipment
• Ensure compliance with NSW WHS legislation and relevant Australian Standards
• Coach operational leaders and build a culture of safety ownership
• Oversee incident investigations, risk assessments and corrective actions
• Drive continuous improvement through audits, reporting and safety performance data

Required profile

• 8+ years' experience in safety across logistics, warehousing, supply chain, FMCG or similar environments
• Hands-on safety leader able to engage with floor teams, influence senior stakeholders and decide in a high-pressure environment
• Diploma or higher qualification in Work Health and Safety
• Greenfield experience or involvement in a major automation project highly regarded
