Risk & Audit Specialist – Non‑Profit (Hybrid)

About the role

As a Risk & Audit Specialist at Benevolent, you will work across corporate services, ageing, and child, youth and family programmes to identify risks, improve processes and strengthen controls. The role blends hands‑on audit work with collaborative advisory support, helping the organisation make better, evidence‑based decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and deliver internal audit and assurance activities, including planning, scoping, external provider engagement and progress monitoring.
• Lead targeted second‑line assurance and compliance reviews, defining scope, testing controls and verifying adherence to requirements.
• Drive continuous improvement of risk and audit frameworks, tools and methodologies, and provide coaching and training to staff.
• Manage corrective‑action processes, ensuring clear ownership, monitoring progress and escalating overdue items.
• Embed risk management into business operations by facilitating risk assessments, supporting control reviews and maintaining enterprise risk artefacts.
• Support governance, resilience and compliance activities such as policy lifecycle coordination and records management.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in internal audit, risk management or compliance within a complex organisation.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate findings into practical recommendations.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills, able to run workshops and facilitate collaborative solutions.
• Proactive, curious and initiative‑driven, with a commitment to continuous improvement.
