Senior Accountant - Public Practice

About the role

Sleek is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its Perth team and help build the Western Australia branch. You will support SME clients with accounting matters, ensuring accurate BAS lodgements, clean financial records, and actionable insights.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and lodge Business Activity Statements (BAS) and Instalment Activity Statements (IAS) in compliance with ATO regulations.
• Maintain full sets of accounts for a portfolio of clients using cloud platforms such as Xero and Dext, including fixed asset management and journal entries.
• Oversee accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely invoicing, collections, payments and reconciliations.
• Collaborate with bookkeeping and tax teams to ensure ledger integrity and smooth financial operations.
• Assist in preparing monthly management accounts and financial reports to provide clear insights for client decision‑making.
• Provide payroll support and act as the primary advisor for day‑to‑day accounting needs of Australian SME owners.

Required profile

• Minimum 4 years of experience as an accountant within an accounting firm.
• Strong client relationship management skills, both verbal and written.
• Experience preparing corporate tax returns is a major plus.
• Demonstrated ownership, accountability, humility, structured thinking and data‑driven decision making.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Xero accounting software.
• Proficiency with Dext for document processing.
• Knowledge of BAS/IAS preparation and GST compliance.
• Experience with payroll processing and accounts payable/receivable.
