Senior Accountant – Public Practice

About the role

Sleek is looking for a Senior Accountant to join its Sydney office and support SME clients with their accounting matters. You will ensure accurate BAS lodgements, maintain clean financial records, and provide actionable financial insights.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and lodge Business Activity Statements (BAS) and Instalment Activity Statements (IAS) in compliance with ATO regulations.
• Maintain full sets of accounts for a portfolio of clients using cloud platforms such as Xero and Dext.
• Oversee accounts payable/receivable, ensuring timely invoicing, collections and reconciliations.
• Collaborate with bookkeeping and tax teams to guarantee ledger integrity.
• Assist in preparing monthly management accounts and financial reports for client decision‑making.
• Provide payroll support and act as the primary accounting advisor for Australian SME owners.

Required profile

• Minimum 4 years of experience as an accountant in an accounting firm.
• Strong client relationship management skills, both verbal and written.
• Experience preparing corporate tax returns is a major plus.
• Demonstrated ownership, accountability and humility in previous roles.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Xero accounting software.
• Experience using Dext for document processing.
• Knowledge of Australian GST, BAS, IAS and payroll regulations.
• Ability to manage multiple client portfolios and maintain accurate financial records.
