Restructuring Lawyer (Front End/Transactions)

About the role

Arnold Bloch Leibler is seeking an experienced lawyer with 5‑7 years post‑qualification experience to join its Restructuring and Insolvency practice. The role focuses on front‑end transactional work within the Banking & Finance practice, handling high‑profile restructuring and workout transactions for major corporates, financiers and private equity funds.

Key responsibilities

• Draft and negotiate standstill, forbearance, amendment agreements and corporate restructure documentation.
• Work on distressed debt, turnaround transactions, recapitalisations, debt‑for‑equity conversions and rescue finance facilities.
• Handle corporate and acquisition finance matters including refinancings, asset‑based lending and structured finance in a restructuring context.
• Provide safe harbour advisory, stakeholder negotiations, intercreditor arrangements and strategic advice on complex cross‑border transactions.
• Prepare deeds of company arrangement, schemes of arrangement and general commercial transactions such as joint ventures and distressed asset sales.

Required profile

• 5+ years PQE in front‑end transactional restructuring, preferably from a banking & finance or corporate practice.
• Demonstrated experience drafting and negotiating restructuring documentation (e.g., debt restructuring agreements, standstill arrangements, rescue finance facilities).
• Strong commercial acumen with a pragmatic, solutions‑oriented approach to complex, time‑sensitive matters.
• Ability to work effectively with major corporate clients, financiers, private equity sponsors and other stakeholders.
• Commitment to a long‑term career within a leading Australian law firm.
