Registered Nurse – AOD (Mon‑Fri, No Shift Work)

About the role

Healthcare Australia is seeking a Registered Nurse specialised in Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) to provide person‑centred care within on‑shore immigration detention facilities. The position is day‑only, Monday to Friday, with no shift work.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive AOD assessments for detainees.
• Develop, implement and review individual care plans.
• Deliver brief interventions and psycho‑education.
• Support withdrawal management and monitor clinical progress.
• Provide medication administration, health promotion and harm‑reduction services.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team in a trauma‑informed environment.

Required profile

• AHPRA‑registered General Nurse with unrestricted registration.
• Either 5+ years AOD nursing experience plus a postgraduate mental‑health qualification, or 7+ years AOD nursing experience without the qualification.
• Demonstrated passion for primary health care in detention settings.
