Registered Nurse – AOD (Mon-Fri, Day Shift Only)

About the role

Healthcare Australia is recruiting an experienced AOD Registered Nurse for a Monday to Friday, day-shift-only position at the Brisbane Immigration Detention Centre. The role offers evenings and weekends back, with no night shifts, and a $4,000 sign-on bonus for eligible candidates. It sits within a primary care framework and a supportive multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments of individuals with drug and alcohol-related needs.
• Develop, implement and review care plans tailored to each individual.
• Administer medications safely, including detoxification protocols when required.
• Provide education and support on harm reduction, relapse prevention and recovery strategies.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including mental health professionals, security staff and external services.

Required profile

• Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse (Division 1).
• Either a postgraduate qualification in AOD plus at least 5 years' specialist AOD experience, or 7 years' specialist AOD nursing experience.
• Strong clinical skills and a compassionate, non-judgemental approach to patient care.
