Registered Midwife - Outpatients Maternity Service, North West Tasmania

About the role

This is a permanent Registered Midwife position in the Outpatients Maternity Service, covering antenatal and postnatal care in the community. The role is based in the North West Maternity Services (NWMS), primarily at the North West Regional Hospital, with satellite and community services at Mersey Community Hospital, King Island District Hospital, Smithton District Hospital and West Coast District Hospital. The service includes antenatal clinics, parenting education, pregnancy and postnatal assessments, a 4-bed birthing suite, a 20-bed inpatient ward, an 8-bed special care nursery and extended care midwifery, plus lactation services and links to allied health.

Key responsibilities

• Provide advice, care and support to women during pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period, including care of the newborn
• Strengthen health outcomes by providing safe, quality, clinically appropriate midwifery care in partnership with women, their families and other health professionals
• Work in a team of clinicians with diverse skills, sharing a culture of safe patient and staff care
• Take part in parenting education classes and postnatal assessment services
