Quality Control Blast & Paint Inspector

About the role

The Quality Control Blast & Paint Inspector ensures that blasting and painting activities at Osborne Naval Shipyard meet all customer, contractual, regulatory and organisational standards. Working closely with production teams, suppliers and customers, the role provides quality assurance throughout inspection, coating and preservation processes.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct surveillance, visual inspections and verification to confirm compliance with drawings, specifications, standards and contracts.
• Gather objective evidence to verify that products and services satisfy quality, customer and regulatory requirements.
• Review quality documentation, inspection records, work packs and certification packages for accuracy and customer acceptance.
• Confirm that required maintenance, inspection and testing activities are completed according to approved procedures.
• Provide quality guidance and support to production teams, suppliers and other stakeholders.
• Coach, mentor and deliver informal training on workmanship standards and quality requirements.
• Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to integrate quality requirements into project delivery.
• Support quality planning, assurance, monitoring and compliance activities across blast and paint operations.
• Liaise with customer and supplier quality representatives to address concerns and provide assurance.
• Assist investigations of non‑conformances, root‑cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.

Required profile

• Experience in quality control or inspection of blast and paint processes.
• Knowledge of customer, contractual, regulatory and organisational requirements related to coating and preservation.
• Ability to review and verify technical documentation and certification packages.
• Strong communication skills for interaction with production teams, suppliers and customers.
• Capability to support non‑conformance investigations and continuous‑improvement initiatives.
