Purchasing Specialist

About the role

APA is looking for a Purchasing Specialist to join the ID Commercial Delivery team. You will support infrastructure projects by managing purchasing, sourcing and supplier relationships to ensure commercial, schedule and quality outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Manage purchasing from approved demand through to purchase order placement, ensuring compliance with procurement policies.
• Undertake sourcing activities such as RFQs, bid evaluations and supplier recommendations, balancing cost, schedule, quality, risk and value for money.
• Negotiate commercial terms, pricing and delivery requirements with suppliers.
• Build and maintain effective supplier relationships, monitor performance and resolve issues.
• Coordinate purchasing, expediting and logistics with project teams, suppliers and service providers.
• Maintain accurate purchase orders, sourcing records and ERP data, resolve invoice issues and ensure audit‑ready documentation.

Required profile

• Experience in procurement, purchasing, sourcing or a related commercial environment, preferably supporting major projects or infrastructure.
• Proven ability to conduct RFQs, evaluate offers and make commercially sound supplier recommendations.
• Strong commercial and negotiation capability with confidence to engage suppliers on pricing, terms and delivery.
• Excellent organisational skills to manage multiple sourcing and purchasing activities concurrently.
• Understanding of purchasing governance, including purchase orders, contracts, delegations and audit requirements.
• Effective stakeholder management and communication across project, engineering and commercial teams.
