Purchasing Officer – Healthcare Procurement

About the role

The Purchasing Officer will support Children’s Health Queensland by ensuring clinicians have the right equipment, supplies and services to deliver high‑quality care for children and young people across Queensland. Working within the Central Resources Service, you will apply procurement and supply‑chain expertise in a collaborative, patient‑focused environment.

Key responsibilities

• Procure and manage a wide range of medical and non‑medical goods and services in line with organisational policies.
• Maintain accurate inventory records and monitor stock levels to prevent shortages.
• Develop and sustain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
• Identify and resolve procurement‑related challenges, ensuring timely delivery.
• Support budgeting and cost‑control initiatives through effective sourcing.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in procurement, supply chain or purchasing, preferably in a healthcare setting.
• Strong communication and stakeholder‑engagement abilities.
• Analytical mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a close‑knit team.
