Projects Officer - Corrections Victoria

About the role

The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a Projects Officer for its System Performance Branch within Corrections Victoria, which runs Victoria's adult custodial corrections system. The officer reports to the Senior Projects Officer, Statewide Operational Support, and manages requests and complaints by recording, investigating and verifying them, then writing comprehensive responses. The position is based in Melbourne (121 Exhibition Street) with flexible work arrangements and possible travel.

Key responsibilities

• Record correspondence, verify complaints and respond to complex verbal and written enquiries from people in custody, their families and legal representatives
• Liaise with key stakeholders and prison staff to gather information and respond to correspondence
• Analyse and interpret information using prison information systems such as PIMS and E Justice
• Interpret CV policies and procedures to respond effectively

Required profile

• Sound knowledge of the Victorian correctional system, especially prison operations, policies and procedures
• Demonstrated ability to prepare complex written correspondence
• Experience and understanding of the prison system and guiding legislation and policy is desirable; no mandatory qualifications

• Fixed-term, full-time position at VPS 4 grade, paid $100,894 - $114,476 plus superannuation
