Project Officer – Capital & Maintenance Projects

About the role

The Queensland Government Accommodation Office (QGAO) is seeking an experienced Project Officer to support the delivery of major capital works, building refurbishments and asset renewal programmes across its extensive property portfolio. Reporting to the Principal Project Manager, Major Projects, you will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, contractors and government agencies to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Provide project coordination and administrative support for capital works, maintenance projects and portfolio‑wide programmes.
• Monitor project progress, track milestones, manage risks and issues, and prepare regular status reports.
• Analyse project information, stakeholder requirements and risk data to support informed decision‑making.
• Collaborate with QBuild, external consultants, agencies and other stakeholders to resolve issues and achieve project objectives.
• Assist in the administration and monitoring of service contracts and standing‑offer arrangements, ensuring compliance and escalating contract matters as needed.
• Research government initiatives and industry best practices to inform asset‑management decisions.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in coordinating capital works, refurbishment or maintenance projects within a public‑sector or large‑scale property environment.
• Strong analytical abilities to assess project data, risks and stakeholder requirements.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with multidisciplinary teams, contractors and government agencies.
• Ability to produce clear, concise reports and to escalate issues promptly.
