Project Manager

About the role

Mettle is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead commercial fit‑out or refurbishment projects in Sydney. You will own delivery from award through handover, coordinating the site team, client, consultants and subcontractors to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget and to the required quality and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and manage the project programme, sequencing trades, deliveries and inspections.
• Lead site meetings, coordinate the project team and site staff.
• Oversee subcontractor and supplier performance, resolving issues promptly.
• Act as primary contact for clients and consultants, managing expectations and communication.
• Own the project budget, cost control, forecasting and monthly commercial reporting.
• Review and approve variations, progress claims and contractual correspondence.
• Monitor compliance with safety, quality and environmental requirements.
• Identify and manage project risks, escalating when senior support is needed.
• Manage practical completion, defect rectification and project close‑out.

Required profile

• 5+ years delivering commercial construction projects in a Project Management role.
• Degree‑qualified in Construction Management, Engineering, Building or related discipline.
• Proven ability to lead, motivate and develop project teams.
• Strong risk management, decision‑making under pressure and stakeholder communication skills.
• Current driver’s licence and White Card.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Project or similar scheduling software.
• Advanced use of the Microsoft Office suite.
• Experience with project management and reporting tools; Jobpac experience is highly regarded.
