Project Engineer – Construction Projects

About the role

BESIX Watroc is seeking a Project Engineer to join its team on upcoming construction projects in the western suburbs of Melbourne and Geelong. You will play a key part in delivering high‑quality building and infrastructure works while upholding the company’s safety and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Drive safety policies and procedures in line with OH&S legislation to maintain a safe workplace.
• Ensure compliance with company Quality, Occupational Health & Safety and Environmental policies.
• Coordinate and administer construction engineering activities, ensuring projects follow plans, designs and specifications.
• Interpret designs for on‑site implementation and contribute to design improvements.
• Arrange and oversee the letting of tenders.
• Assist in preparing site construction budgets and progress reports.
• Monitor construction progress against programme schedules and report to site or project managers.
• Participate in site meetings and provide updates.

Required profile

• Degree or Diploma in building/construction or a recognised tertiary/trade qualification in a construction‑related field.
• Strong communication and influencing skills with the ability to build relationships at all business levels.
• Proven ability to work autonomously, using initiative, sound reasoning and decision‑making.
• Demonstrated capability to deliver results under high‑pressure conditions.
• Professionalism, maturity and a candid work ethic.
• Logical thinking applied to a wide range of practical problems.
