Project Administrator (Canine) - Victoria Police Dog Squad

About the role

The Victoria Police Dog Squad supports police operations across Victoria and is based at the Attwood facility, co-located with the Mounted Branch. This fixed-term, full-time position covers all canine administration, assists the training sergeant, works with dogs and keeps accurate records of animals, equipment, feed and medications. It is open to Australian citizens, permanent residents and holders of a valid work permit or visa.

Key responsibilities

• Keep animal records current and manage canine medication records, veterinary notes and treatments
• Manage procurement of canine feed, equipment and kennel repairs and updates
• Establish quality control across the movement of canines, dispensation of feed and treatments
• Ensure OH&S requirements for kennels, medication and storage are met
• Accompany and assist contractors on site and manage Dog Squad projects
• Provide administrative support at meetings and committees, and give monthly reports to management

Required profile

• Ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team
• Ability to work with and around animals
• Ability to record data and produce management reports
• Well-developed written and oral communication skills
