Project Accountant – Renewable Energy

About the role

An established renewable energy platform is seeking a Project Accountant to support a growing portfolio of utility‑scale renewable generation and energy storage projects across Australia. You will work closely with finance, development and project teams to ensure accurate project‑level accounting and financial control throughout development, construction and operations.

Key responsibilities

• Manage month‑end close activities, including journals, accruals, pre‑payments and balance‑sheet reconciliations for large infrastructure assets.
• Track project costs, reconcile actual spend against approved budgets, and maintain CAPEX accounting records.
• Oversee accounts payable, review invoices and reconcile project expenditures.
• Support budget, forecast and cash‑flow reporting, investigating variances between actual and forecast spend.
• Maintain project financial models, cost reports and supporting schedules.
• Assist with audit, tax and statutory reporting requirements and liaise with external contractors and consultants.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of accounting experience, preferably in large‑scale projects or capital‑intensive environments.
• CA or CPA qualification, or progressing towards it.
• Strong month‑end, reconciliation and financial reporting capabilities.
• Excellent attention to detail and solid understanding of financial controls.
• Ability to work effectively with both finance and non‑finance stakeholders.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel proficiency for handling large financial datasets.
