Production Technician

About the role

Alcon is seeking a Production Technician to join its Mulgrave (Melbourne) site. You will work in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment assembling and testing precision micro‑optical and electromechanical systems that support the company’s eye‑care products.

Key responsibilities

• Assemble complex micro‑optical and electromechanical components following detailed work instructions.
• Operate custom automation equipment for precision assembly processes.
• Troubleshoot sub‑assemblies and report quality issues.
• Collaborate with Engineering and New Product Introduction (NPI) teams on prototype builds.
• Contribute to 5S and continuous‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Detail‑oriented professional with a passion for precision manufacturing.
• High School Certificate with strong results in science or technology subjects; technical certification in electronics, mechanical engineering technology, mechatronics, optical technology/photonic, or precision manufacturing is desirable.
• Experience working in clean‑room environments is a plus.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and a proactive approach to problem‑solving.
• Commitment to workplace safety and quality standards.

Required skills

• Precision assembly techniques.
• Use of hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
• Ability to read and follow complex work instructions and technical drawings.
• Operation of custom automation equipment.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel for documentation and reporting.
