Principal Pavements Engineer – Melbourne

About the role

AECOM is seeking a Principal Pavements Engineer to lead the design and delivery of high‑profile aviation, port and transport projects across Australia. You will combine deep technical expertise with client leadership and business growth, shaping the future of pavement engineering.

Key responsibilities

• Lead pavement design and engineering for complex, high‑visibility infrastructure projects.
• Provide technical direction on design, rehabilitation, materials, investigation and construction methods.
• Review and approve designs, calculations, specifications and technical documentation.
• Mentor multidisciplinary teams and develop the next generation of pavement specialists.
• Act as a trusted technical advisor to clients and contribute to winning major projects.

Required profile

• Degree‑qualified Civil Engineer with ~15 years of pavement engineering experience, preferably in consulting.
• Chartered Engineer and/or RPEV accreditation (or working towards registration).
• Proven track record leading major pavement projects in aviation, ports or transport.
• Strong understanding of Australian pavement design standards and investigation techniques.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and leadership skills.
