Principal Hydraulic Engineer – Building Engineering

About the role

AECOM is seeking a senior hydraulic engineer to lead hydraulic engineering across a diverse portfolio of complex building projects in Perth. This senior technical and client‑facing role involves shaping team growth and delivering high‑quality engineering outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead hydraulic engineering on building projects, acting as technical lead and guiding project teams and junior engineers.
• Own technical delivery of hydraulic designs, calculations, reviews, quality assurance and sign‑off.
• Coordinate hydraulic design with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions.
• Engage directly with clients and stakeholders to translate requirements into innovative, cost‑effective solutions.
• Mentor and develop engineers, delegating tasks and supporting professional growth.
• Contribute to the national Hydraulics team and support delivery of high‑profile projects across Australia.
• Provide a broad range of services including rainwater harvesting, sanitary plumbing, drainage, trade waste, water reticulation, hot‑water systems, solar hot‑water, reverse osmosis, demineralised water and water‑efficient design.

Required profile

• 10+ years of hydraulic engineering experience, preferably in a consulting environment.
• Strong knowledge of Australian Standards, NCC/BCA requirements and relevant codes.
• Relevant engineering degree, TAFE qualification or equivalent experience.
• RPEQ/RPEV registration or ability to obtain it.
• Australian citizenship (required for some projects).

Required skills

• Hydraulic design and calculation software.
• Microsoft Office suite.
• Revit (preferred).
