Portfolio Planning & Controls Lead

About the role

ING, Australia’s most recommended bank, is seeking an experienced Portfolio Planning & Controls Lead to drive integrated portfolio planning, governance, and performance oversight across the Data Office.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate an integrated view of strategic, regulatory, risk and business initiatives to ensure resources are aligned to high‑value outcomes.
• Oversee portfolio demand intake, resource forecasting, capability planning and workforce allocation, identifying constraints and skills gaps.
• Provide consistent reporting, milestone tracking, dependency management and delivery reviews for executive decision‑making.
• Partner with Finance on budgeting, forecasting, cost management, risk identification and governance compliance.
• Deliver consolidated portfolio reporting, strategic recommendations and decision‑support materials to senior leaders.
• Manage cross‑portfolio dependencies, resolve conflicts and ensure alignment with business priorities and regulatory commitments.
• Champion continuous improvement of portfolio management practices, planning disciplines, controls and automation.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in portfolio planning and controls within complex organisations.
• Strong financial, workforce and capacity planning expertise, including budgeting and forecasting.
• Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, able to influence senior leaders.
• Deep understanding of risk, governance and regulatory environments, preferably in banking or financial services.
• Highly analytical and strategic mindset with ability to integrate delivery, financial, workforce, dependency and risk data.
