Portfolio Director of Engineering

About the role

The Portfolio Director of Engineering will lead the maintenance and engineering functions across multiple hotels in Melbourne, reporting to the Portfolio General Manager and contributing to the portfolio leadership team.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with building, equipment, energy, water, contractor and environmental standards.
• Lead brand compliance for Novotel and ibis Budget hotels within the portfolio.
• Manage capital‑expenditure projects and oversee general repairs to keep all hotel departments operating smoothly.
• Oversee contractor management and actively participate in health & safety initiatives for guests and staff.
• Develop and implement strategies to improve energy, water and waste management and reduce environmental impact.
• Drive team engagement and promote a positive culture.

Required profile

• Tertiary or trade qualifications (preferred).
• Previous experience in a similar engineering role within hotels or residential accommodation.
• Strong knowledge of engineering systems and procedures.
• Ability to align departmental activities with business objectives.
• Exceptional organisational skills and ability to manage multiple projects.
• Full working rights in Australia (no sponsorship).
