About the role
Anthropic is seeking a Lead Employment Counsel to build the legal foundation for its growing workforce across the Asia‑Pacific region. You will partner closely with People and business leaders to design and run employment programs that enable employees to do their best work.
Key responsibilities
- Serve as the primary employment lawyer for APAC, supporting People programs, policies and day‑to‑day issues.
- Build and maintain legal infrastructure for jurisdictions including Japan, South Korea, Australia, Singapore and India.
- Advise on market entry, workforce structuring, acquisitions, employer‑of‑record arrangements and contractor classification.
- Partner with Compensation, Benefits and Equity teams to ensure global programs are compliant and scalable.
- Guide employee relations matters and workplace investigations in line with local law.
- Develop and manage employment dispute strategy, from pre‑litigation to tribunal and court proceedings.
- Track legislative and regulatory developments, including employee data privacy and AI‑related employment rules, and translate them into practical guidance.
- Create scalable templates, playbooks and training to enable compliant operations.
Required profile
- Law degree (JD, LLB or equivalent) and local in‑house counsel licensing for the base location.
- Deep expertise in employment law across multiple APAC countries.
- Strong written communication skills, able to provide actionable guidance to non‑lawyers.
- Ability to balance legal risk with business practicality and work collaboratively across time zones.
Required skills
- Employment law knowledge for Japan, South Korea, India, Australia and Singapore.
- Experience advising on market entry, employer‑of‑record arrangements and contractor classification.
- Understanding of employee data privacy requirements across APAC.
