Payroll Call Centre Operator

About the role

Ignite is recruiting multiple Payroll Call Centre Operators for a 4-month contract with a NSW Government organisation, based in the Sydney CBD with five days in the office. The role suits candidates with experience in payroll, contact centres, shared services or customer support who enjoy helping people and resolving enquiries.

Key responsibilities

• Manage payroll-related enquiries by phone, email and online channels
• Assist with questions about pay, leave, timesheets, superannuation and payroll policies
• Investigate and resolve payroll issues, escalating where required
• Maintain accurate employee records across payroll and HR systems
• Provide clear, professional guidance on payroll processes and procedures
• Support administrative and payroll processing activities as required

Required profile

• Experience in payroll, customer service, contact centre or administration roles
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• High attention to detail and data accuracy
• Comfortable working in a high-volume environment
• Ability to handle sensitive information professionally and discreetly

Required skills

• Proficiency with computer systems and databases
• Desirable: payroll experience in government or large, complex organisations
• Desirable: exposure to Aurion, MicrOpay or similar payroll systems
• Desirable: Certificate IV in Payroll Administration
