Patient Safety Officer

About the role

Metro South Health is recruiting a Patient Safety Officer for a temporary full-time position at Logan Hospital, Meadowbrook, in the Logan and Beaudesert area. The role provides clinical leadership in patient safety, incident management and quality improvement, strengthening a culture of safety across the Logan and Beaudesert Health Service.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the review, investigation and analysis of clinical incidents and sentinel events, identifying ways to reduce preventable patient harm.
• Coordinate clinical incident reporting, monitoring and management, including SAC 1 incidents.
• Provide expert advice and guidance on patient safety, clinical governance and risk management.
• Analyse clinical data and trends to inform service improvements and better patient outcomes.
• Build relationships with clinical teams and stakeholders to promote continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Experienced health professional with strong clinical knowledge and analytical skills.
• Experience in clinical incident investigation and analysis, including Root Cause Analysis (RCA) or other recognised incident analysis methods.
• Ability to lead and influence multidisciplinary teams and drive organisational change.
• Strong communication, report-writing and stakeholder engagement skills.
