Pastoral Care Volunteer - Home Visits, Lithgow

About the role

HammondCare is looking for a pastoral care volunteer in Lithgow to support the spiritual and emotional needs of elderly clients living at home. You will work alongside the HammondCare At Home Pastoral Care Coordinator and complement their work. The role is part of the Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme, which links elderly people with volunteers in their local community.

Key responsibilities

• Support people to meet their spiritual needs
• Nurture spiritual development
• Listen, pray with and accompany people such as the man described in the invitation, helping them feel less isolated
• Visit between 9am and 4pm, Monday to Friday; visits can be weekly or fortnightly depending on availability

Required profile

• 18 years or older
• A National Volunteer Police Check, arranged and paid for by HammondCare
• Willingness to join a local Christian church and to be a listening, prayerful presence

Required skills

• High level of interpersonal skills, including strong empathy and listening skills
• Pastoral care training such as Chaplaincy or Clinical Pastoral Education, or attendance at HammondCare pastoral care training
• Spiritual Care Series, in preparation to become a pastoral care volunteer
