Parts Interpreting Apprenticeship

About the role

Golden West Apprenticeships offers a full-time, 36-month Parts Interpreting Apprenticeship in Toowoomba. The apprentice develops skills and knowledge through on-the-job experience with an employer while completing a nationally recognised course of training with a registered training organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Sell automotive parts and accessories in retail or wholesale outlets, such as batteries, headlights, tyres, seat covers, car cleaning equipment and engine, brake and transmission components.
• Work in motor accessory dealerships, large car dealerships and motor wreckers, working closely with vendors to keep a steady supply of quality parts and helping customers find the right part.
• Talk to customers to find their exact needs and recommend appropriate parts.
• Identify the make, model and variations of motor vehicles and automotive equipment.
• Check catalogues or computer databases to locate the source of required parts.
• Order parts from warehouse and external suppliers.
• Prepare invoices and other finance arrangements for the sale of stock, and process cash and credit transactions.

• Ability to listen, follow instructions and ask for assistance when needed.
• Desire to contribute positively to the workplace by being punctual, interested and following workplace policies and procedures.
• Ability to act responsibly and safely, and to build effective working relationships with the apprenticeship team.
• Ability to complete timesheets correctly and on time.
• Driver's licence.
• Desirable: work experience in the industry and a forklift licence.

To complete the apprenticeship, the apprentice must abide by the training contract terms, complete inductions, perform work satisfactorily, finish the training plan within the allocated timeframe and comply with relevant registration, including the Further Education and Training Act and the Work Health and Safety Act.
