Metal Sheet Fabricator

About the role

An engineering company in Australia is hiring experienced metal sheet fabricators for a full-time position. The ideal candidate has strong workshop fabrication experience, expertise in MIG welding and the ability to read engineering drawings and fabricate high-quality metal components.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret engineering blueprints and technical drawings for fabrication work.
• Measure, mark, cut, bend and shape metal sheets and steel components accurately.
• Operate fabrication equipment such as rollers, drill presses, flame cutters, shears and other workshop machinery.
• Perform welding using SMAW, MMA, MIG and TIG processes.
• Carry out grinding, polishing, finishing and surface preparation.
• Fabricate, assemble and repair metal structures while maintaining quality and safety standards.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience as a metal sheet fabricator.
• Trade qualification as a metal fabricator, boilermaker, welder or equivalent.
• Proven experience in workshop fabrication and in fabricating and welding SHS and RHS steel sections.
• Mandatory experience in agricultural equipment fabrication/repairs and/or transport and logistics fabrication.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and work independently.

Required skills

• Strong hands-on MIG welding, especially on mild steel.
• Interpreting engineering drawings.
