Mechatronics Design Engineer – 12‑Month Contract

About the role

Alcon is seeking an Associate Mechatronics Design Engineer to support the design, testing, and development of integrated mechanical, electrical, and software systems for its production lines. The role focuses on enhancing automation and intelligent manufacturing equipment while ensuring compliance with safety and industry standards.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to specify, design, procure, and build manufacturing equipment for production lines.
• Design and implement control systems for automation, including hardware integration of sensors, actuators, and mechanical components.
• Analyze system performance, refine designs, and troubleshoot issues to improve equipment reliability.
• Maintain accurate documentation, adhere to GxP regulations, and follow Standard Operating Procedures.
• Ensure rigorous quality control, safety compliance, and completion of required training.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience designing high‑precision, automated production equipment.
• Experience in the optical industry (MTO) is advantageous but not mandatory.
• Background in automation engineering, industrial automation, or mechatronics.
• Strong commitment to compliance, safety, and continuous improvement.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team.

Required skills

• SolidWorks modelling and drawing.
• Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Product Data Management (PDM) systems.
• Control systems design for automation.
• Hardware integration of sensors, actuators, and mechanical components.
