Mechanical Supervisor

Mechanics Recruitment is seeking an accomplished Mechanical Supervisor to lead high-impact mechanical operations for a portfolio of critical projects in Port Hedland, WA. Key responsibilities

• Supervise and lead a team of skilled mechanics, keeping activities aligned with strict safety and quality benchmarks.
• Oversee day-to-day mechanical works and drive efficiency and precision across all project phases.
• Inspect and diagnose machinery and equipment proactively, addressing issues quickly to minimise downtime.
• Develop, implement and refine preventative maintenance schedules.
• Champion safety, compliance and continuous improvement, promoting a zero-harm culture.
• Mentor, coach and upskill mechanics and build talent pipelines.
• Maintain compliant records for maintenance, repairs, inventory and statutory requirements.
• Work with project management, procurement and other stakeholders to ensure seamless project delivery.
• Sourcing and optimising mechanical parts and services to improve cost efficiency.
• Lead process improvement initiatives to boost productivity and asset longevity.

Required profile

• At least 5 years of supervisory experience in mechanical or heavy industrial environments; mining, resources or major projects preferred.
• Proven ability to lead and manage diverse technical teams.
• Expertise in implementing maintenance best practices and process optimisation.
• Relevant trade qualification in mechanical engineering or a related discipline (highly regarded).
• Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to project and site locations.

Required skills

• Hands-on knowledge of pumps, motors, conveyors, hydraulics and related mechanical systems.
• Ability to read complex engineering drawings, specifications and manuals.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
