Sheet Metal Worker - Air Conditioning Ducts

About the role

Airducter, a Darwin-based organisation providing industrial and commercial air conditioning and mechanical services in the Northern Territory since 1983, is looking for a qualified or experienced Sheet Metal Worker for its Berrimah factory. The role covers fabricating, assembling, installing and repairing sheet metal products and equipment such as ducts, control boxes, drain pipes and furnace casings.

Key responsibilities

• Read and interpret drawings.
• Carry out general fabrication, insulation, assembly and installation of sheet metal products.
• Weld stainless steel and aluminium.
• Operate computer-controlled machines and fabricating machines, monitoring the machine and the process.
• Install assemblies such as flashing, pipes, tubes and heating and air conditioning ducts, and inspect, assemble and smooth seams and joints on burred surfaces.

Required profile

• Sheet metal qualification and/or extensive experience in the field.
• Experience in the HVAC&R industry.
• Good analytical skills and enjoyment of problem solving.
• Good hand-eye coordination and high attention to detail.
• Manual driver's licence is mandatory.
• Ability to obtain federal police and security clearances where required.
• OCHRE card (Working with Children), or ability to obtain one.
