About the role
First Focus, Australia's leading managed AI and IT services provider, is hiring a Manufacturing Technology Consultant in Brisbane. This is an individual contributor role focused on helping small and mid-sized manufacturing businesses (typically 20 to 250 users) adopt AI, strengthen cybersecurity, modernise cloud and managed services and review their IT partners. The workplace is hybrid and the salary is AUD 200,000 to 300,000.
Key responsibilities
- Work with manufacturing businesses reviewing their technology strategy, cybersecurity, AI roadmap or existing IT partner.
- Help manufacturers move from curiosity to practical, secure and commercially sensible adoption of AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot and secure AI assistants.
- Lead the commercial conversation from qualification through to proposal and close, owning the client relationship and sales process.
- Translate First Focus's AI, cybersecurity, cloud and managed services offerings into outcomes for business owners, operations leaders and manufacturing executives.
- Write clear, commercially credible proposals and ensure smooth handovers to implementation.
- Work closely with technical specialists, solution architects and delivery teams, bringing them in only for genuinely complex requirements.
Required profile
- At least five years' experience in consultative B2B sales, solution consulting or technology consulting, with sustained exposure to manufacturing.
- Demonstrated experience selling into manufacturing or working in manufacturing, industrial or production environments.
- Experience with managed services, manufacturing technology, cybersecurity, cloud, AI, ERP systems, infrastructure or operational technology.
- Ability to engage with Managing Directors, CEOs, CFOs, COOs, Operations Managers and other IT decision-makers.
- Natural curiosity about AI and use of it in daily work.
Required skills
- Strong discovery skills and disciplined opportunity qualification.
- Excellent written communication and proposal development skills.
- Technical aptitude to discuss AI, cybersecurity, cloud and managed services independently, including capabilities, risks and business outcomes.
- Understanding of OT, industrial networks or the challenge of connecting factory-floor systems with business IT is valued but not essential.
