About the role
Scyne Advisory is seeking an experienced Manager – Accounting Advisory to join its national advisory practice. The role focuses on delivering high‑quality accounting advice to public‑sector and for‑purpose clients across Australia, especially on major infrastructure projects and climate reporting.
Key responsibilities
- Provide technical accounting advice on complex Australian Accounting Standards (AASB) topics such as financial instruments, service concession arrangements, leases, equity investments, joint ventures and consolidation.
- Lead development of accounting position papers, financial models, technical assessments and reporting assessments for major public‑sector and for‑purpose clients.
- Advise on accounting implications for large‑scale infrastructure projects, PPPs, restructures and policy changes, and support preparation of financial statements and impact assessments.
- Assist clients with climate and sustainability reporting requirements, including data identification, disclosures, transitional arrangements and governance frameworks.
- Manage end‑to‑end delivery of technical accounting engagements, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams and overseeing multiple workstreams across jurisdictions.
Required profile
- CPA, CA or equivalent professional accounting qualification (mandatory).
- 5–7 years’ experience in technical accounting, financial reporting, audit or advisory, preferably within a professional services environment.
- Experience in external audit is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex engagements and deliver high‑quality technical outputs.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to translate complex issues for diverse audiences.
Required skills
- Australian Accounting Standards (AASB) – financial instruments, service concession arrangements, leases, equity investments, joint ventures, consolidation.
- Technical accounting advisory for infrastructure, transport, energy, utilities, housing and health sectors.
- Climate and sustainability reporting standards (Australian climate reporting standards).
- Financial modelling and financial statement preparation.
