Major Project Director – Water Infrastructure

About the role

AECOM is seeking a seasoned leader to direct large‑scale water infrastructure projects across Australia and New Zealand. You will oversee design‑and‑construct programmes, manage commercial performance and guide multidisciplinary teams to deliver technically excellent, client‑focused outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead delivery of major water infrastructure projects, acting as Project Director for both design and construction phases.
• Manage project controls, risk, commercial performance and stakeholder engagement.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with contractors, alliance partners and key water clients.
• Provide strategic guidance on complex technical challenges and support major pursuits, bids and framework opportunities.
• Mentor project teams, fostering a high‑performance delivery culture.

Required profile

• 12+ years of experience leading design‑and‑construct water infrastructure projects within an engineering consultancy.
• Proven track record delivering water treatment plants, pump stations, transmission pipelines or similar assets.
• Established client network in NSW and reputation for delivering major projects.
• Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder‑management abilities.
