Maintenance Fitter

About the role

The Midfield Group is seeking a safety‑focused, qualified Maintenance Fitter & Turner to join its Warrnambool team. You will work alongside a crew of tradespeople to maintain and repair machinery, ensuring smooth on‑site operations.

Key responsibilities

• Repair and maintain machinery and equipment, following the company’s Preventative Maintenance Program.
• Interpret drawings and specifications to select appropriate materials, methods, and machine settings.
• Fit fabricated metal parts, assemble sub‑assemblies, and verify accuracy using precision measuring instruments.
• Set up machining tools, cutting and shaping dies, and controls for textile machines.
• Cut, thread, bend, and install hydraulic and pneumatic pipework.
• Diagnose faults, perform operational maintenance, and overhaul mechanical and fluid‑power components.
• Attend daily breakdowns, weekly maintenance meetings, and toolbox talks.

Required profile

• Trade certificates in Engine Reconditioning, Fitter & Turner, Machinist or related qualification.
• Strong experience in a similar maintenance role.
• Punctual, reliable, self‑motivated problem‑solver and team player.
• Basic computer literacy and good interpersonal communication.
• Willingness to pass drug & alcohol testing, pre‑employment medical, and Q‑Fever vaccination.
