About the role
This locum opportunity is for an experienced Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to lead the Emergency Department on night‑in‑charge shifts at Maclean District Hospital throughout October 2026. The role runs from 21:30 to 07:30 each night and provides critical clinical leadership in a rural, Level 3 hospital.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee all clinical activities in the Emergency Department during night shifts.
- Make urgent medical decisions and ensure patient safety.
- Supervise and support nursing and medical staff on duty.
- Coordinate with hospital services to maintain seamless patient flow.
- Document clinical outcomes and hand over responsibilities to day‑time teams.
Required profile
- Qualified medical practitioner with CMO accreditation.
- Extensive experience in emergency medicine.
- Current registration to practice in New South Wales.
- Ability to work night shifts and manage high‑pressure situations.
