Legal Counsel – Renewable Energy & Infrastructure

About the role

Beacon Legal is seeking a commercially‑minded Legal Counsel to join a leading global infrastructure and renewable energy investment manager in Melbourne. The role offers exposure to renewable energy development, project finance and operational infrastructure matters, supporting the business at the forefront of the energy transition.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, negotiate and review a broad range of energy and infrastructure agreements, including renewable generation and storage projects.
• Advise on project development matters such as land access, EPC and O&M agreements, grid connection documentation and power purchase agreements.
• Support delivery and operation of large‑scale renewable energy and infrastructure assets throughout the project lifecycle.
• Assist with project financing and refinancing, coordinating with lenders and external advisers.
• Provide strategic legal advice on regulatory and compliance issues affecting the sector.
• Support asset management teams on operational issues, contractor disputes and commercial arrangements.
• Manage external counsel and contribute to governance, corporate structuring and board matters.

Required profile

• Admission to practice law in Australia.
• 3‑6 years of experience in construction, infrastructure or energy, either in private practice or in‑house.
• Exposure to renewable energy, project development, project finance or infrastructure matters is highly regarded.
• Strong technical, commercial and stakeholder‑management abilities.
• Proactive, adaptable and collaborative approach.
• Excellent communication, drafting and problem‑solving skills.
• Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, evolving environment.
