Legal Counsel – Media and Content

About the role

We are seeking an up‑and‑coming lawyer to join our dynamic media team in Australia, gaining broad experience across commercial and clearance & litigation matters for premium content.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, negotiate and review principal contracts including program acquisition, production, licence, development, format, distribution, funding, talent and IP licences.
• Prepare foundational agreements such as NDAs, location agreements, waivers, talent releases and partnership/sponsorship contracts.
• Provide commercial legal advice, interpret contracts and advise on intellectual property matters.
• Clear content for broadcast, including news, social posts and non‑news programmes, ensuring compliance with Australian media laws.
• Assist senior lawyers with litigation, dispute resolution and preparation of cease‑and‑desist letters.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer holding or eligible for a practising certificate in NSW or Victoria.
• 2‑4 years post‑qualification experience in a top‑tier law firm or respected in‑house team.
• Enthusiasm to learn, strong commercial aptitude and attention to detail.
• Experience or strong academic background in media and/or intellectual property law.
• Excellent interpersonal, written and communication skills with ability to work collaboratively.
