Senior Associate Competition Lawyer

About the role

A global Competition/Antitrust practice in Sydney is looking for a Competition Lawyer with 4-6 years' PQE. The team advises domestic and international clients on complex mergers and joint ventures, including merger analysis and coordinated clearance filings across Australia, APAC and other key jurisdictions, with a heavy cross-border focus. Investigations, enforcement, competition and consumer law advisory, and risk management covering cartel conduct, misuse of market power and consumer protection are also part of the work.

Key responsibilities

• Drafting and settling sections of merger submissions and clearance filings
• Preparing engagement packs and correspondence for the ACCC
• Running first cuts on advices
• Taking ownership of discrete workstreams in investigations, including evidence mapping, chronology building and response drafting
• Working closely with partners who stay involved in overall strategy and client direction

Required profile

• 4-6 years' PQE as a Competition Lawyer
• Strong technical foundations in competition and consumer law
• Sound judgment and the ability to work calmly across multiple matters
• Collaborative style and a professional presence in a close-knit team
