Lawyer / Associate - Asbestos & Dust Diseases Litigation

About the role

Maurice Blackburn is hiring a Lawyer or Associate to join its Asbestos, Silica and Occupational Disease Team in the Melbourne CBD office on a full-time, permanent basis. The team has more than 20 years of experience in dust diseases litigation and aims to secure the best compensation results for clients while providing exceptional service throughout their claim journey.

Key responsibilities

• Apply technical knowledge and experience in personal injury litigation to achieve fair outcomes for clients
• Manage conflicting business needs and deadlines with good organisational and prioritisation skills
• Foster and manage relationships with referrers and other external parties
• Grow the practice in this area of law
• Provide leadership and guidance to the wider team

Required profile

• At least 2 years of post-admission experience in Personal Injury Law (dust/asbestos litigation, WorkCover or common law)
• Keen interest in specialising in this area of law
• Business development experience preferred
• Strong legal, commercial, analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong client and relationship-building skills, with a client-service focus
• Excellent organisation and multitasking ability, determination and resilience
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Required skills

• Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite
• Ability to lead and guide a wider team
