Legal Counsel – Litigation & Class Actions

About the role

We are partnering with two top‑tier law firms to place an experienced Legal Counsel on a 12‑month contract in Sydney. You will work on high‑profile litigation, class actions, investigations and other complex disputes, providing commercially focused advice to leading partners and clients.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and advise on complex litigation and dispute matters.
• Lead significant class actions and large‑scale commercial disputes.
• Develop litigation strategies and provide pragmatic, commercially focused advice.
• Oversee court processes, pleadings, evidence preparation and case progression.
• Conduct investigations and advise on risk‑related and sensitive matters.
• Engage directly with clients, counsel, experts and other stakeholders.
• Draft, review and negotiate legal documents and submissions.
• Support dispute resolution processes, including negotiations and mediation.

Required profile

• Approximately 1–2 years PQE at Senior Associate level or equivalent experience.
• Strong background in commercial litigation, disputes or other contentious practice areas.
• Experience managing complex litigation matters with appropriate supervision.
• Excellent stakeholder management and client relationship skills.
• Ability to work autonomously and take ownership of matters.
• Strong commercial judgement, attention to detail and effective communication.
