Legal Counsel

About the role

Diraq is building a leading quantum computing company and seeks an Australian‑qualified lawyer with 4‑7 years post‑admission experience. The role sits in the Legal & Compliance team, reporting to the Head of Legal & Compliance, and offers exposure to a wide variety of commercial and strategic matters.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements such as customer, supplier, consulting, technology, partnership, research and NDA contracts.
• Provide practical, commercially‑focused legal advice to stakeholders across the business.
• Identify legal and commercial risks and develop workable solutions.
• Support contract management, legal operations and process‑improvement initiatives.
• Assist with corporate, governance, compliance and strategic projects.

Required profile

• Australian‑qualified lawyer with approximately 4‑7 years PQE.
• Strong commercial judgement, pragmatic problem‑solving and ability to balance legal risk with business objectives.
• Comfortable working directly with stakeholders and managing matters independently in a fast‑moving environment.
• Calm under pressure, able to manage competing priorities and adapt to changing priorities.

Required skills

• Extensive experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial agreements.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
